So I went to the Studio Ghibli Exhibit at LACMA in LA. I want to say that it was truly inspiring to see a master like Hayao Miyazaki's raw sketches and water color illustrations in person. I only seen two of his movies sadly.

THE WIND RISES is the best movie I've ever seen about an artist interrogating the tension between their strong anti-military views and their childlike fascination with military machinery (and in Miyazaki's case, especially if it flies) https://t.co/bszq39B8cr

An exquisite background from Hayao Miyazaki's 2013 animated historical drama THE WIND RISES. Based on Tatsuo Hori's novel THE WIND HAS RISEN, published in the 1930s, it was the highest-grossing film of the year in Japan and was nominated for an Oscar.

A lovely imageboard from Hayao Miyazaki's animated post-apocalyptic fantasy, NAUSICAA OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND (1984), based on his own 1982 manga. Though made before Studio Ghibli was founded on June 15, 1985, it's often thought of as a Ghibli film.

Am I the only one getting Miyazaki vibes from BEANZ and the relation to their Azuki companions? Reminds me a bit of Calcifer, the fire demon from Howl's Moving Castle and some of Miyazaki's other creatures. What I love most is it begins to expand on world building. Bullish.

A gorgeous watercolour imageboard from Hayao Miyazaki's masterful animated film PRINCESS MONONOKE (1997). One of my personal favourites of Miyazaki's films.

A terrific production imageboard for Hayao Miyazaki's exquisite animated fantasy film HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE (2004), based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones.

An imageboard from Hayao Miyazaki's classic animated feature MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO (1988), inarguably one of the greatest family films ever made.

In a curveball for my tabletop interests, we got a funny little game that i have yet to actually play called ryuutama. Normally I wouldn't even put something i've barely interacted with in something like this but the idea of ''Hayao Miyazaki's Oregon Trail'' is rad.

SHUNA also prefigures other Studio Ghibli films, including PRINCESS MONONOKE (which borrows visual and narrative ideas from it) and Goro Miyazaki's TALES FROM EARTHSEA (which is explicitly based in part on the book). (3/4)

In episode 13 of Ranpou / Rampoo, you can a see a poster of Hayao Miyazaki's manga Shuna no Tabi on the wall.

I really appreciate Miyazaki's love for giant women. I don't think there is a Souls game that doesn't have a giant woman.

Even Bloodborne has Gratia, the woman so huge she couldn't use a gun so she used oversized steel knuckles

Did you know?
The character "Nausicaa" from the Odyssey is actually a reference to Hayao Miyazaki's famous movie.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
Hayao Miyazaki's adaptation of his incredible 1982 manga of the same name. Princess Nausicaa is drawn into a struggle with the Torumekian kingdom's plot to use a horrifying ancient weapon to destroy the encroaching toxic jungle.

Friendly reminder that Hayao Miyazaki's first ever feature film 'Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro' is available worldwide on Netflix.
