I missed but I'm going to cheat with

Something that became striking to me recently is that mosasaurs ascribed to the genus Tylosaurus have an incredibly long temporal range.

Coniacian to the Maastrichtian

That's like 22 million years.

*Palaeontological, but yes! Both their relationship to snakes and other lizards, plus some features of the skull suggest that mosasaurs probably had some kind of forked tongue.

WIP watercolor of cannibalistic/scavenging behavior in mosasaurs. This will be used in a presentation by paleontologist, Nathan VanVranken, about his research.

I don't think I ever posted this illustration on social media so i'm posting it now for late Mosasaurs were marine lizards related to monitor lizards (not dinosaurs). They were the largest lizards ever, & like many lizards they gave live birth.

More sketches of Mesozoic marine reptiles for a commission for the , and Marine reptiles are always so much fun to reconstruct, no matter how many times I have reconstructed them. It is nice to go back to mosasaurs too

My latest paper (and first on mosasaurs) is finally out this week in Alcheringa! Taxonomy and historical inertia: Clidastes as a case study of problematic

I was very excited to try my hand at the age-old trope of mosasaurs snatching pterosaurs. Probably not gonna work out well for you Pteranodon buddy. Its okay, giant lizards are way cooler than bird-bats with man bodies.
