The main chapters cover ‘lesser known’ marine reptile groups, then the geologically longer-lived the diverse and often long-necked those phenomenal giant lizards the and, finally, the sea (images by Brian Choo)

Among the first of many new mosasaurs to emerge during the Telosian (post-66 mya), the squalisaurs are descendants of Plotosaurus that have become pelagic fusiform predators. Feeding primarily on squid and small fish, they are among the speediest of mosasaurs.

-, plesiosaurs, and even fellow mosasaurs like Platecarpus and Plioplatecarpus! The only thing a Tylosaurus would've feared was another Tylosaurus, as the specimen FHSM VP-2295 had signs of injury that indicated it was killed by a larger Tylosaurus! (2/2)

Thank you! I am going even MORE experimental with my new ones. Something surrealist on the one hand and something a bit more GAY and fun. I tell you, mosasaurs have become an unlikely new muse

Shork? BIG shork! One of my favourite shark names to say is Cretoxyrhina, also known as the Ginsu shark! This thing was 26 feet long and weighed over 5 tons, making it one of the largest sharks of all time! It needed it to face off with the huge mosasaurs it shared the seas with!

Tylosaurus nepaeolicus is the middle child of tylosaur from the Smoky Hill Chalk of Kansas. It is middle in body size, stratigraphic distribution, and phylogenetic placement - sandwiched between T. prorigor (big boi) and T. kansasensis.

partitioning is involved, with the psittacocetids prefering slow moving armored prey such as sea turtles and the filter feeding mosasaurs and elasmosaurs. Some overlap does occur but not enough to ignite competition.

Second, the dentaries (tooth-bearing bones of the lower jaw) are relatively short compared to other mosasaurs (i.e., Tylosaurus), much like in today’s shell-crushing lizards, incl. the caiman lizard (Dracaena) & Nile monitor (Varanus)!

WIP. One of my goals is to have more movement in my And with the long, sinuous forms of mosasaurs it's hard *not* to have motion

Despite citing Peters, Hall’s mental image of mosasaurs is pure Henry Neville Hutchinson-era.

The reason I think Tylosaurus is seriously far more EPIC than any other mosasaur can be summed up with a ton of older art that features it as the all-encompassing leviathan of the Western Interior Seaway and now we find that even big mosasaurs could vibe upriver! Missing paleoart
