Just gonna say, it's not an insult to point out how an artist draws a character with an opposing detail like this. Like, imagine this being done with Knuckles; taking his sharp eye shape and making them big and round. It'd be off-putting, and it's the same for Silver.

I'd like to compare it to Piccolo's eyebrows. He's been expressive without changing their shape too much. The last one is an example of an over-exaggerated expression that happened a couple times and did not became his standard shape, unlike Evan's Silver.
