One of my best discoveries is this nest of the extinct Lord Howe Island Fantail. It is a beautiful cup nest delicately bound with cobwebs. It was found in 1913, 5-years before the steamship SS Makambo ran aground in 1918 and accidentally allowed Black Rats to invade the island.

This is a of a clay that was given to me many years ago when I was a small boy. The grey slip colour on the hull is a good match for this week's colour.
