@SAStudioADHD Yep, here's an alien race called "Vykiens" (VIY-KEE-INS) who've been living on Earth for many years.
The Vykiens are a peaceful race, but two evil Vykeins named Vexter and Zarkia turned on them and eventually created their own clone army of Vykiens (now renamed "Vexiens").
As well as Viy there is 'The Terrible Vengeance' ' Strashnaya mest' by Gogol - a story about evil spirits and the antichrist. It evokes folklore but seems to be his own paranoid invention. Cossacks do not fear sorcerors! Powerful illustration by Barry Bruner #faustianfriday
I finally watched Soviet Folk Horror VIY (1967), and loved it to bits! A gloriously inventive technical achievement (I have to assume Sam Raimi is a fan), with fun performances and a terrific score. The climactic eye-popping phantasmagoria unleashed is truly a sight to behold..!
One of those crucial missing links in #horror cinema’s development, Soviet classic #VIY finally gets the attention it deserves via #MastersofCinema Blu-ray.

One a Hammer-ish Russian flick with a witch who rides a coffin.
The other, Ken Russell’s bonkers take on Mary Shelley’s night at Villa Diodati.
Both under 90 mins
Both visually insane
Would recommend🍷
This is an old piece from 2017 i think and it was supposed to be a fanart based on Viy by Nikolai Gogol, but i'm having a hard time deciding if i like this drawing or hate it
