I think the mainstream, big dawg publishers are complacent when they can just whip out Oliver Coipel or Eddie Barrows caliber whenever they want. The rest of the books end up looking like art you'd see in a coloring book... or worse.

Halloween Horror - The Excavation of Hob's Barrow - Lots of familiar pieces combined into something memorable and new. Fantastic unnerving pixel-art visuals and a genuinely creepy slow burn horror plot. Its fatalism will be hit or miss for many, but I loved every minute of it.
