Cistercian houses had a set Plan Dundrennan Abbey (Dumfries & Galloway) HS info board Newbattle (Dalkeith) watercolour 1991 & Alan Sorrell's reconstruction of Melrose. For some reason Melrose was a backwards Plan. Even Byland (Sorrell) in England followed the usual site Plan.

My late grandmother would say that Galloway was the last stronghold of the Ancient Folk (faeries).
In 1850 a hawthorn tree halted the widening of the road between Glenluce and Newton Stewart because it was 'faerie property'.
