In 1947, English sculptor Barbara Hepworth accepted an invitation to visit a hospital operating theatre and study surgeons at work. Her interest in surgeons’ work had been triggered by seeing her daughter Sarah hospitalised.

I've just been reminded by @doctorjamesfox of Barbara Hepworth's wonderful hospital drawings, made in 1948 at the birth of the #NHS

Did you know #OnThisDay in 1968, a new Barbara Hepworth retrospective opened at Tate. This poster for the exhibition features her 1946 work Pelagos which was inspired by a view of the bay at St Ives in Cornwall, where two stretches of land surround the sea on either side.
British artist Barbara Hepworth made these sketches in black and blue ink while planning upcoming sculptures in 1957.
Hepworth was born #onthisday in 1903 – discover more of her drawings here: https://t.co/I7eDNBWi6a
@KidlitKat I'd be so so interested in this sort of thing - I've done a little of it on this kids biography of Barbara Hepworth and other artists (cover attached plus a few other bits), and would love to tackle a picture book

We’ve been working with @folliehuller on a series of illustrations inspired by the @YSI_2019 exhibitions at The Hepworth Wakefield—we love them! Look out for Hollie’s fifth and final illustration this weekend as we reach the half-way point of the festival!
