You know who I think would be real fun artist for a Plastic Man gig? Doug Mahnke.
He’s a stellar artist who‘s unique visual style can range from the hilarious to wicked to colorful to gritty! He’s a co-creator of The Mask, and worked on Plas a lot on JLA, he’d be perfect!
Except that’s not what happened AT ALL. In JLA Id, which the OP was actually thinking about, Plastic Man and Eel O’Brian did get split up, as did the rest of the JLA. But the point of the story was that their identities weren’t so clear cut. Made obvious WITH Plas 3/7
Adventures Of The Flash (Wally West) - Cover Date January 2003 - Storylines/Events: Run Riot - The Obsidian Age - JLA/JSA Secret Files & Origins - Local Hero #wallywest
“But Alex Ross, Plastic Man and Captain Marvel were never part of that Justice League Of America era? In fact, was Captain Marvel ever PART of the JLA? And where’s Firestorm?”
Including the fact that by then, Plastic Man actually had a recent comic run. In ‘95 Plas’ last book was from 1988, and wasn’t* collected, while in 2008 he had Kyle Baker’s ultra-satiric 20 issue series that had at least two trade collections, and a substantial run in the JLA
I know that many people immediately associate his name with Marvel but when I close my eyes and think about Carlos Pacheco it’s JLA/JSA Virtue and Vice the first thing that pops in my mind.
So good.
The more I read this the more I realize just how much Joe Kelly used THIS book as an inspiration for how he wrote Plastic Man. Even the coma dreams Plas mentions here were used in JLA.
I have to admit, Miller does seem like he’s having fun with Plastic Man, artistically. I think he actually might be a fan in general, given that he actually wrote Plas as being a founding JLA member in his All Star Batman and Robin book
And that's a wrap, folks! After 66 episodes (and countless issues) Jon and PJ have finally finished their deep dive into @grantmorrison's legendary run on JLA, arguably the greatest superhero comic ever written. Listen wherever you enjoy podcasts!

I checked the @DCLegends Reddit page for news on Plas’ intro to the game, and was GREATLY excited to see them reference the JLA 80 Page Giant from 2011, Plas’ last story before the New 52. It’s an amazing story for Plas, and seeing it being brought up again is amazing
The (partially) mind controlled JLA may not be trying to hurt Barbara, but that isn't keeping her from using poor Ray as a blunt instrument. Poor Barry. And Ray. And Barbara.

Okay, it’s not exact, but I really feel like this scene in DB#4 is a homage to JLA/Avengers 3.
