Beep beep. It's the birthday of David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974) the fog horn of the Mexican Revolution. Boy was he loud! Too loud for me. I can forgive him his politics - hardcore Stalinist communism - but not the absence of pictorial subtlety. His art bullies you. End of.

The Empty Bag: Paul Stahr's cover to Life's 1914 Christmas edition. The kind of art that might well get accussed of being Woke in 2022, or worse, as gawd-darned gawdless communism.

'Vote, it's your most effective weapon' — French anti-communist poster (ca. 1951) showing a tank made of ballots rolling over 'communism'.

Okay I’m still reading red son. Obviously Millar is equated with communism most guardian columnists are, but the art. It’s fine, but it’s not this. This would’ve made it worthwhile. If all the panels had this much care and attention, I think it would be a very different comic.

Caricature of Russia getting assaulted by Communism while German emperor looks at everything, rubbing his hands at a job well done. Caricature is from "Punch" magazine, 1917.

Never thought that I'd ever see a pro-communism vampire movie, but Paul Morrissey's "Blood for Dracula" is it. What an odd, surreal and uncanny film. A must see from The picked a winner. Film does have the whiniest Dracula in cinema, though.
