The feelings evoked are all subjective, of course. But just googling "Eldritch monolith" nets me a lot of similar monotone, murky, cloudy vistas. I'm not saying you're wrong, or even OP, just that clouds and fog and green murk don't necessarily mean "boring" for everyone.
