If we're talking WWI, I'm bringing up Ornitologia da Grande Guerra (Ornithology of the Great War), a set of caricatures where portuguese Lieutenant Colonel José Rodrigues Brusco Júnior compares military men... to birds. #MuseumsUnlocked
In the summer of 1549, a group of rebels from towns and villages across Norfolk camped beneath a large oak tree on Mousehold Heath, led by Robert Kett. They were protesting against enclosure, the fencing off of common land by powerful landlords. #MuseumsUnlocked Day 105: #Protest

Huguenot refugees escaping to England in the 17th century had no choice but to travel across the sea. We don't have any contemporary images but imagine a typical scene in our galleries #MuseumsUnlocked The Sea @MuseumsUnlocked
#MuseumsUnlocked Dutch Fair on Yarmouth Beach, George Vincent, 1821 (@timetidemuseum). Trading ships pulled up on the sand for a bustling market that can last only for the duration of a low tide. Nelson’s (original) column in the background.

The French writer Colette (1873-1954) owned a picture of the Ladies of Llangollen, a print like this one. She wrote: 'I would like to have known the faces of these two ladies as they were when they were young and radiant with mutual trust.' #MuseumsUnlocked
The Ladies disliked having their portraits taken and this print (also @britishmuseum) is based on sketches made secretly by Mary Parker during a visit to their home at Plas Newydd, Llangollen in 1828. Eleanor Butler died in 1829 and Sarah Ponsby in 1831. #MuseumsUnlocked

Before roads or railways were built the best way to travel long distances was by sea.The ‘Palmerston’ was a paddle wheel steamship, called a packet as it carried the Royal Mail.
In 1830 the ship was carrying passengers twice a week btw Bristol and Swansea. #museumsunlocked
