@QueerBuccaneer shading and colour is something i really wanted to up my game with this year and i really think i'm getting there, i love adding occlusion shading into my art and i think it adds so much depth
Hello guys. A bit off again but I still drawing, trust me.
And here is a occlusion paiting study based on a course lesson that I'm learning. Occlusion, colors and my traditional way to paiting. I liked a lot and want to do more occlusion

when you add occlusion shadow the art instantly pop off

Implemented a new SOP-based ambient occlusion in #Houdini. The new algorithm is seedless and also closer to being physically correct.
The previous version can still be used for artistic purposes like dirt buildup. 1/3

What could be more beautiful than a quick preview in ambient occlusion?

Knight. Made this for ambient occlusion homework, still got a lot to learn! :D

Ohh it was this one! I did her in 2015 following an Alex Negrea Ambient Occlusion tutorial. Took forever to finish, but i gained a lot of confidence and most importantly patience (which i then realized was crucial for the type of art i wanted to make). 🥰 https://t.co/vN4FJMXLth
For today's progress, I used one of @bluefley's very helpful lighting tutorials to practice and apply key lighting. Tomorrow I'll try some ambient occlusion shading.

@Kayas_Kosmos I enjoy paying attention to light as an actual concept: RGB primaries, reflection, scattering, diffuse, occlusion, etc.

Yet another light baker. Actually does some ray marching, but still pretty ad hoc.
The textures are:
1. Normals (procedurally painted in big chunky strokes)
2. 3D Signed Distance Field
3. 3D Ambient Occlusion in positive and negative X,Y and Z
For the curious viewer:
I actually have a lot of trouble drawing with lines. For animation/caricature, I can do it. But when it comes to rendering realistic 3D scenes, my brain freezes over.
I'm trying to get around this by "sketching with occlusion shadows" like you see here.
