What's with Whisper the snowy owl being grey? Well, turns out only adult males are pure white! Babies are grey and turn white as they age. Female snowy owls retain some grey with striking peppered plumage.

Pacific golden plover (non-breeding plumage). During breeding season it gets a black plumage. Wonder how they recognize themselves in breeding n non-breeding seasons. At least this one retains its characteristic golden colour.

Never judge a bird by their plumage. Even with the utmost love and care, birds (especially Cockatoos) struggle with plucking behavior. This is for those who's hearts belong to a little avian "nudist".

Whilst I am trying to conjure up some warmth here is a pair of lapwkngs ... seen at Hayle estuary at this time of year, from a distance in flight they always appear to be black and white which belies their beautiful iridecant plumage.

The better the rank, the bigger the 'feather in your cap' (not sure if this is the origin of that phrase. The çorbacı was a regimental (orta) commander & some of them had seriously impressive plumage.

I've been wanting to draw this for a few years and I finally did it! I personally see Togepi/Togetic/Togekiss as a sort of owl-like griffon with relatively small front legs that end up disappearing in the poofy chest plumage.
