I haven't seen too many people mention it yet, but I LOVE how just joyfully QUEER #Sandman is. I mean, it always was - but it's like, in case you missed the subtext of the comics, here's a fresh fucking coat of RAINBOW PAINT on your gothy show about dreams.
Love it.
Liar Satsuki has an interesting mix of human analogy i.e. the human body and many ways you can kill someone in graphic detail. The author's creative that's for sure. Add in yuri subtext but in a more casual way and it's a pretty good series that's educational at times.
@francosonic1991 oh, definitely in the subtext zone right now (just checked)
knowing the author though, it'll very likely to go further later on
I can't imagine Total Eclipse's Anime hitting at all without VN context tbh
The entire thing is layered in subtext that isn't discernable to its full extent unless you've had the full LN or VN experience imo. It barely scrapes motivations and does a weak job at showing them.
[#NeonWhite] straightest man alive experiences homoerotic subtext the game ⚔️
(Subtext) Look. We all know they were fucking idc.
Storm, Ororo Munroe.

The current era of #XMen comics has brought #LGBTQ characters and creators to the forefront and acknowledged queer subtext that's been present in the X-books for decades. This has helped enable the X-Men books to bypass the harmful "Kill your gays" trope.

🦄Minimum of meaning. There is no philosophical subtext. Only brightness, details and lots of fun!

For his part, Claremont remains relatively coy about the queer subtext of his work, saying X-Men can be an allegory for any experience of prejudice. Yet he also suggests that without the restrictions of Marvel editorial or the Comics Code, his comics would have been queerer. 8/8
One of the most downright meta integrations of filmic influence in all of the Claremont run is, perhaps counterintuitively, the M-Squad, a silly, simple Ghostbusters riff with a whole lot of subtext simmering through to create internal criticism of X-Factor. #xmen 1/7
@RHT62682378 @SquareEnix there is a homosexual subtext, it could be argued, to how Sydney tries throughout the plot to intellectually seduce Ashley. but I also added the image because of Ashley's butt (and Sydney's design is also very seductive, showing even his crotch).
Been rewatching Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and decided to switch to the Sub!
This is honestly even better than the dub!
I love the dub for it’s cheese and quotable lines, but the characters are much more developed and the subtext is flooded with intrigue and even nuance!
I know! Weird, yeah
Yet the Excalibur love triangle also shows the limits of queer subtext. On a primary level, things resolve in a heteronormative way. Brian & Meggan have a monogamous marriage, and while some later stories reference Kurt & Meggan’s attraction, Brian & Kurt never flirt again. 11/12
