#EscenariosGhibli Restos de la tragedia, en 'La tumba de las luciérnagas' (Isao Takahata, 1988).
✏️ Bocetos originales de 'La tumba de las luciérnagas' (Isao Takahata, 1988).
Today in covers, Takahata Kyoichiro's Time Leap is getting a reprint, and both the original and new covers have gimmicks going on. (Don't know anything about the book itself; he's one of those authors who just vanished into thin air mid-series.)
Takashi & Matsuko Yamada in MY NEIGHBOURS THE YAMADAS (ホーホケキョとなりの山田くん, 1999) dir. Isao Takahata
"Lil' Bamboo" (from Isao Takahata's: The Tale of Princess Kaguya). 💚 It's world Bamboo Day! I also love this film, so I thought I'd simply doodle up Bamboo-hime at her happiest. #taleofprincesskaguya #studioghibli #isaotakahata

Takahata found me dumpster diving behind his bar. He looked at me and said, "Here, kid" giving me a follow. I thanked him by nya-ing. He shook his head and muttered, "Cheesus crust..." I'm not sure what that meant, but I think I'll find him a cheese-stuffed crust pizza next time.
1999: Mis vecinos los Yamada (Hôhokekyo tonari no Yamada-kun).
La obra más singular del gran Isao Takahata, que fracasó en taquilla justamente por eso. Disponible en @NetflixES.

fun sketch, character is Phoe (aka Phoebe Takahata) one of my OCs I've really been in the mood to draw these days. Enjoyed it as an exercise to improve my tablet familiarity.
Recuerdos del ayer (1991), de Isao Takahata
Una película que muestra la belleza de los pequeños detalles de la vida y la importancia de apreciar lo bueno de lo que hemos vivido.
Por cierto, la tienen en Netflix.
Concept sketches by Toshitsugu Saida for Gauche the Cellist (1982), dir. Isao Takahata, Oh! Production

Haven't seen this one either but it's yet another Isao Takahata TV series (not the last we'll see of him in this thread).
I seem to remember my good friend @CaribouCoon slowly watching this one a couple months ago!
2013 - The Tale of Princess Kaguya
A rewarding, visually distinctive swan song from the late, great Isao Takahata that I enjoy more upon each viewing.
I've gotta give 2013 to Takahata's final masterpiece Tale of the Princess Kaguya. A bittersweet tale that's literall 1000 years old but somehow very modern and poignant about the uncertainty of growing up and what the future lies. if I could only call one anime art, it'd be this.
