I'm still thinking of artists with wildly varying discographies, who had good success in each of them. Gene McDaniels and Scott Walker come to mind as having had a radical drift after the 60s, but i don't think either had enough success to be a touchstone.

I believe in having a touchstone. Something you can come back to when you find yourself dazed, or unsure. That's why you see me post a lot of Flowers - it is exactly that for me, the light that leads me through the dark.
