24 September 1918. United States Lieutenant David Ingalls claimed his 5th victory with a Sopwith Camel (D9649), destroying a Rumpler C above Saint-Pierre-Cappelle at 17.30, thereby becoming the only US Navy ace of WWI and first USN fighter ace.
FILM OF THE DAY: New psychological #horror #indiefilm prequel to recent film X, is less the campy gore fest it’s being sold as & more a compelling downbeat period character study with fine titular performance by #MiaGoth as disturbed but oddly sympathetic WWI era farm girl #Pearl
Been watching “Le Roman de Renard” which is a FANTASTIC film. So much effort was put into every single expression and detail, with the melancholic post-WWI influence making the film ever so much better. Also it was made in 18 months in 1929 so like, mad respect.

4/ Annexation of Bosnia in 1908 set in motion series of events: Ottomans kicked out of Balkans during Balkan Wars 1912-1913. Also Serbia angry by annexation of Bosnia. This lead in 1914 to killing, in Sarajevo, of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a Bosnian Serb, which triggered WWI.
Never Going Home, the @WetInkGames World War Occult #TTRPG set in the horror-haunted trenches of WWI, 1916-18 - 1 week only through Wed 24 Aug: https://t.co/h8CshmeVVy
Based on the planes & ships of the time, Diana & Steve's boat would take 2 months to get from Themyscira (around Greece) to London, not one night, meaning WWI would've been over by the time they got there. Even using modern sailing speeds, it would take 2 days at the very best.
Call of Cthulhu tonight, so I’m going to repost the art of my character: Camellia Mae DeVoie. She’s a former WWI nurse.
Captain Kenneth Keith Forbes paints this scene, CWM 19710261-0142, of a Canadian 6 in howitzer supporting British troops in the attack on Thiepval #OTD Jul 16 1916, during the Somme offensive. Note lack of ear protection, causing deafness in many #WWI vets https://t.co/nYtddoTvsv
