I think where I can take these AI-generated pieces to the next level is airbrushing out some of the freaky artifacts (like the creepy pupils) and editing them to look normal. AI and photoshop here I come!

Incorporating the line art (very important for softer looking emotes)
Taking the airbrush on a clipped normal layer, I apply a reddish color (depending on the piece) to the areas hit by the light or around the face.
Then taking a clipped glow dodge layer to add the first shinies.

Time for lighting and shadows! I take the airbrush on a yellow color and apply to the outer rim of the head where the light will be. Then, taking a darker red color, i apply shadows to the bottom of the hair. Personal touch, i add some purple hues to the shadows.

And tried shading with an airbrush

i'm obsessed w this softer shading that i'm going for, i used to sketch with the bit husky brush all the time but once i forgot i was sketching with the airbrush this pretty thing came out look at the differences hehe

sorry Adi, I couldn't figure out how to use the custom stamps to match the crayon/airbrush texture you already had on the tortoise so the BG looks a bit mismatched but it was a fun try at least XD

2019 vs 2022 ! If You remember the original drawing, You deserve a veterans discount lol. I made the original as My first attempt at (look at that airbrush technique though lol)

Yes! It's called the Lasso technique,

Usually you first use the airbrush and then with the Lasso tool, erase some of the diffusion of the airbrush , mixing hard and soft shadows

The balance between them is something you need to practice and slowly get used to

Was thinking about Lisa Frank… airbrushed shirts… tinsel hair ponies…glitter… and ponies.

Drew Struzan and Travis Charest kinda use the same painting techniques, acrylics combined with water, airbrush & colored pencils.

Does this process takes them so long because is physical media? Trying to figure out how to replicate that digitally to make it practically faster.

A one layer drawing using exclusively the FireAlpaca airbrush tool of my OC Shale! T'was very fun, I could have challenged myself way more but I got lazy with shading and the background XD

L = Old
R = New

In short I just learnt not to use the airbrush

Like this, pretty much

Get a darker color, choose the texture/shape of the brush (I use airbrush), go over it, multiply it, and decrease opacity for it
