Oh gosh, she's definitely evolved over 16 years! Basically, she was just a generic fox dude at first. After about 6 years I gave her the colored highlights, and then started dressing her in girl clothes, and then she discovered she was a girl all along!

Process, oil painting “C. carcharias”. First step top left, I block in with Raw Umber, thinning with mineral spirits. Painted on 50/50 gray primed linen. Bottom left, second step. Titanium White For highlights, blend out leaving gray primer as midtones. Finally, palate, and paint

Yes, the piece was pretty much done, was missing it's final comp (highlights, lens flares, etc.) I took some feedback from and added a 3rd and 4th tone, but all of the placement was done by me. Rex did ask me to add the screentones, that was an addition!

I am highly satisified with how this lineless experiment has gone so far! Painting onto surfaces really helps put it on the body!

Also learned that you should always use the mid-tone to help darken your highlights, or equalize your shades. Smoother than blur/blend tool!

I wish Blender had like a "cavity node" or something, because on low poly models like this, the cavity option in the viewport gives it these really nice looking edge highlights, which can't really be achieved with a pointiness node in the shader editor.
