I used to find them difficult, but now I find them one of the most enjoyable parts of the body to draw! There’s so much you can do with them in terms of expression, as long as you know how to observe the real thing!

A colour comic has some extra tools to play with; when I wanted to show magic glows in Chirault, I would just go some extra shading to the background to make sure the bright lights would show clearly. The darker the shadow, the brighter the light, etc

Hahaha oh my gosh have I ever!!! In Chirault I had to rely on inks to convey magic fx and so on because it was all greyscale and traditionally inked, so moving to full digital colours means that the effects are now UNLEASHED

A4: It depends on what you are trying to achieve. I definitely do because it fits with the world/story I am creating. In action comics, it is more necessary as opposed to gag comics. Until Observed is surrealist sci-fi, so learning angles are critical to me.
