Scalemorphing is strictly utility focused. It's not about growing fire claws, but a drek can warm their blood or improve their vision in the dark or glow and provide warmth to their denmates
It's not a discipline to be used alone but like breathrowing, part of a mages toolkit

Scalemorphing is harder to do than breathrowing. A mage must will their spirit to elementize the mana and sent it through the circulatory system to various parts of the body.
It's a lot more abstract and dangerous to do compared to breathrowing, a mage has to be careful with it
