i usually simplify mine down to shapes because i would sit at my desk for hours if i tried doing much else lol;;; i do something like this where i draw the faces first then start with the brim and build it from front to back, then transform the sketch as needed for perspective

The mesh is actually deceptively simple! Simplifying a shape but keeping the details and silhouette is the real difficulty. The outlines of the dome are three layers of nestled inverted shells. Each metroid is 185 tris.

It's the first time I tried to draw a Soulsborne boss and while I had to simplify him a bit, I am kind of proud how he turned out.

But it helps to simplify it to simple shapes! One thing that’s always there is the big swirl and the hair on his neck, so just kinda fill the blanks with curls n shit until it looks right👍

I’m pretty happy with the evolution of my sona as well. From simplifying markings, toning down some colors, using more shape language, I’m pretty happy with her and I’m glad I’ve managed to stay obsessively connected to her this long.

My advice would be just to keep practicing and learning. Once you learn how to simplify your shapes, you’ll be able to draw anything. Here’s my earlier Godzilla drawings from a few years back Vs now.
