is by Posy Simmonds for "Matilda, who told such dreadful lies" by Hilaire Belloc (1992). I can't imagine why telling lies is on my mind. Anyway, as a child, I relished this poem & the dark humour. Simmonds's illustrations are, as ever, perfection.
