@hellocatfood Don't have a HEIC/HEIF file around, opening TIFF in en_GB locale in GIMP 2.10.18 doesn't show any of that in the very same dialog

Also, to clarify regarding the new slider widget. Should you want so, you will be able to still get the old one by going to Edit > Preferences > Interface and disabling the 'Use compact sliders' option

Tobias Ellinghaus from the fellow @darktable_org project added support for layers exporting to TIFF. To be available in the next stable release, v2.10.12, currently unscheduled
