In 2017 I was teaching myself the Overwatch rigging pipeline at Blizz. Being a huge Starcraft fan I created these layers w/the SC2 Zergling model. Layering variations on top of your looping idle can help create the illusion of individual personalities. (1/2)

I really hate the way 3D looks jarringly out of place in a lot of webcomics, so I'm taking a lot of care to design shaders and workflow that lets me integrate assets in a stylistically cohesive fashion.

and then there's newer NPCs that are separate from players but still built upon the base player model. It's not like they're drawn on 1 layer in MS paint and can never be separated out? We could have scars on belves and tattoos on velves. When is the "right time" to add these?
