Early on, I asked my wife to help me create traditional art of characters in the same style as the watercolor images you would find in the manuals of NES games. They ended up too cute not to use in the final product!

Mostly NES games. Between Zelda II and Solstice I think my parents just enjoyed seeing me suffer (I still love Zelda II, tho, so so much. Solstice on the other hand aged poorly)

They also changed the church for clinics where you needed to resurrect your fallen party members. But oddly the Castlevania series on NES was able to keep the cross. Guessing because Nintendo felt vampires with crosses was ok to market over here.
