Paul Cézanne has enjoyed a lasting legacy thanks to his innovative approach to perspective, vivid color palette, and use of painterly brushstrokes In fact his preference for breaking down forms and using bold tones has often led him to be called a precursor to Cubism

This pair was a joy to create. Rich color and blend of small detail and large loose brushstrokes give it a whimsical yet classic look.

Sometimes it’s just pleasant to open up PS and throw down some brushstrokes

chipping away at this one.

I'm undecided if I should keep the roughness of my brushstrokes or render them smooth. I'm going to see if I can get something between because I might get discouraged if full-on rendering doesn't go well.

I'm proud of this drawing of Shedinja, which I did for a Pokedex project on IG. I decided to try something different by making my brushstrokes more loose and expressionistic, like those of a traditional oil painting. I think it turned out quite well.

Senja Brendon's 'Transition' beautifully captures the pronounced atmosphere of Scottish coasts with delicate textual brushstrokes in her signature impressionistic painterly style.

...My forever idol is the late Zdzisław Beksiński, and I'll post a comparison below between my art and his, and you'll see (even though he worked on physical canvas and I digitally) how well his use of brushstrokes and colours make the haunting atmosphere of his work come to life

Here we have another example of the presence of two layers, corresponding to the Sacrifice of Iphigenia (House of the Tragic Poet). The close-up pictures show the thickness of the “secco” layer and the painter’s brushstrokes.
