1/ in 1785 John James Audubon was born at Les Cayes, Santo Domingo, Haiti. An ornithologist, artist and naturalist, Audubon is most famous for 'The Birds of America (1827–1839)' which featured colour plates that depicted life size American birds.

Perhaps the most remarkable extinction was that of the Passenger pigeon. This was once the most abundant bird in N. America, numbering >3 billion.

Here it's shown in Audubon's Birds of America. Martha, the last specimen, died in Cincinnati Zoo in 1914.

I have been reading JJ Audubon's biography ..and I wondered if he ever painted a sure did! see the burrowing cray on the White Ibis print !! Now here is a challenge for you crayfish taxonomists! What species is it!??

Audubon is supposed to be the inspiration for this. I started doing detailed feathers and quickly decided that wasn't my thing. So I put some textures in and I'm calling it done.
