Sorry if the advice was unwelcome, but I've made my living as an illustrator for 40 years and watercolors were my medium for a big part of that. I hate to see people scrubbing away with tiny little round brushes. I painted mostly with flats.

Messed around a bit with Krita's RGBA brushes. Brought back fond memories from when I painted with acrylics.
Be sure to install the Pigment O plugin by Eyeodin for more granular colour control if you plan on trying out Krita, especially if you are coming from Photoshop.

GM! Some of my friends told me to try Clip Studio Paint on iPad and damn now I know why they like using it despite the monthly fee. 🙃 This VIVIZ is the output when I tried to test the brushes.

another incredible rat illustrator!! Their knowledge of how to create whimsical compositions constantly floors me. Their work is rich with gorgeous textures and interesting brushes. I love that you can always see their style even with the huge variety of mediums.
