An old piece from 2011. First picture's the initial sketchbook drawing.

Sorry for that 3rd picture. I had to adjust the values like that just to see the pencil lines because of how light they were.

Gongrats on the very satisfying number of followers! 👌 I'm Jacob and my current goal is to get into art school this fall, and I've also been working on values lately.

I worked really hard on this one especially when it came to values, hence the two sketches. The first sketch was my very first draft and the second one was where I blocked in the basic values. It was complicated and a lot of fun! 🌈✨

but this is more my typical sketch style. Basic values over some awful scribbles.

I still struggle with this workflow a lot but for full pieces I prefer to test thumbnails with values like this!

I actually figured this one out with values. Because I had to.

My actual-D&D baby Myrrh (enby drag thembo) was a level 2 Bard and had +5 in Performance and Persuasion! (And also weirdly, stealth)

I was so proud of the stat values I rolled at level one because I managed to get three 14's and two 16's by second level 🥺

PLUS CA CHANGE by Peter Fuller

Times change. And so do values: at least in the international ‘art world’. Let’s go back ten years to ‘The New Art’ at the Hayward Gallery in 1972. Remember?

I adjusted the values in these pieces to be much better, Lima's didn't change too much but Nona's took a big leap and I like how it looks now a whole lot better

As you can see I don’t have the habit of drawing landscapes, but today I’m studying a little about the fundamentals of landscapes (shapes and values). I started doing exercises to push those abilities.

tried playing with values

Started a new illustration. Gonna grab ref tomorrow and actually draw everything in properly. Mostly just laid out the composition, values, and pallet.

This is going to be kind of a dreary, depressing pic.
