So I'm getting better at doing these "colored sketches" Allowing myself to be loose, defining things how I want them early ... it's kinda like I'm sketching messily but also purposely putting down my finished clean lines. .. or I guess just sketching cleanly...

I'm doing this thing where I take my line work, duplicate it, and set it to white. Then I erase parts of it that are in shadow and reduce the opacity by about half. I want to take the edge off the hard lines. I don't have the technique down yet, but I feel like its getting there.

Verdict on the "do your lineart in a bright color and darken after" strategy? Do it. Absolutely do it. I even subconsciously made the lineart more detailed as a result and it looks freaking awesome. Plus it's such a cool surprise when you darken the lines.
