The Rusalka, from Eastern European folklore. Exemplifies the sort of female mythological presence that the Uncaged anthology highlights and subverts - I was first exposed to the darkness behind Rusalkas in Quest for Glory IV as a kid and they blew my mind.

Done! My weeb interpretation of the Rusalka 😊 "In Slavic folklore, the rusalka is a female entity, often malicious toward mankind and frequently associated with water. They came out of the lakes in the spring to transfer life-giving moisture to the fields."

Some photospams later after I take a better look at it. Now that I have seen the layout of the book itself, I can now make the assumption that the two redheads are indeed different people but also in the same era.

Only Ren, Marie, Shirou and Rusalka have one full 2-page stretch.

Vitya as a Rusalka qwq They are female malicious spirits but eh, Vitya can be one of them =u= ...T7T I've wanted to draw some Slavic mythology for a while now!! Also Rusalka is the same for for both this entity and the regular mermaid, so that's why *shrug*

Wanted to spend a little bit more time on it. In Ukrainian folklore rusalkas are undead girls who died of drawning. They are common to sirens, come out of water in the night and can lure living to join them.

Rusalkas don't really have much in common with mermaids but they share same name in Russian so
