Blaze is legit just a "alternate" of Sonic. She's a fighter, just when she has to be. She's her own character, of course, but at the core is another sonic. Hell, only her, Shadow, and Sonic can boost in the games. I see her as a much an alternate as Surge, Scourge, and Shadow.
