To celebrate the folklore of storytelling this who else recalls Jim Henson's The Storyteller as an iconic part of their childhood? The cadence, the rhythm of the stories was mesmerising. Love John Hurt!

Pentamerone or The Tale Of Tales by Giambattista Basile has a frame story of a false bride & 10 female storytellers that are hired to tell a story each over 5 nights (50 in total). The true bride (who has been disguised as a storyteller) is revealed at the end.

thinking about how middle eastern folklore clearly inspired a lot of akira toriyama's artwork in dragon ball, and now I really wanna see what he'd do with a full on adaptation of Arabian Nights stories

Hello again! I’ve been quietly (and slowly 😭) working on a big project that will *hopefully* be going live on Kickstarter soon! I’m creating a Japanese Folklore pin set, inspired by my travels through the beautiful country back in 2019

♥ Thanks! My name's Helen and I do lots of watercolor and ink stuff, mainly inspired by old timey European paganism, old fashion, and Spanish folklore.

My fave color pallet is a mix of green and brown for a base, followed by purple-pink as an extra

The brownie is a personage of small stature and wrinkled visage.

He is attached to certain families with whom he resides, even for centuries, helping with chores.

He expects to be paid with a bowl of cream or some fresh honeycomb.

The Wild Hunt is a folklore motif in various Northern European cultures. The hunters are the souls of the dead or ghostly dogs, fairies, Valkyries, or elves. Seeing the Wild Hunt presages some catastrophe such as war or plague.

Louisiana folklore: an owl cry brings bad luck unless you call back to it or remove an item of clothing & put it back on inside out. If an owl cry wakes you, get out of bed and turn your left shoe upsidedown
