'The Bone Season' art process.

Sketch development and then composition adjustments. The type was chosen to go with the style used in the book, and I made a tiny poppy motif to match the icons used there too.

The terrain was a mesh made by hand in Blender, but I was referencing an imported heightmap while making it. Even with tools like Shrink Wrap, it was still a very manual process.

It’s enjoyable for me to read/watch Luffy train. He said it back in Enies Lobby, it’s his job to be the strongest of the crew. It’s essential that we get a glimpse at his process.

You don’t have to care about fights, but I think it’s important to root for him.
