Saw this today and I just... as a wildlife biologist I feel the burning need to point out that cyndaquil is an echidna (not a mouse) and fennekin is a fennec fox (not a dog). Fennec is even in the name!!!!

Cyndaquil is the Rat, because, in its Pokedex, it’s called “Fire Mouse Pokemon”. Both Rat and Mouse are from the family Muridae, so it fits.

They always followed the same pattern for every starter:
Plant = Extinct animal
Fire = Chinese zodiac
Water = Weapon
Sprigatito will be some extinct big cat, but since there's yet the some zodiac slots to fill expect the most ambiguous thing for Fuecoco since Cyndaquil.
