Knuckles!
Knock knock. I based this sprite's pose off of Knuckles' Sonic Battle idle. I made his quill highlights slightly orange to mimic his Sonic Adventure artwork, and his skin is slightly darker than usual to reference his SA2B model.

I think they're more so talking about how they clearly just used the 2019 design in general with the flash back. Like sure the spines are somewhat obscured, but the ones that you can see are clearly not on the 2014 model.
