So, I used to have kind of a convoluted way of doing this - I would have my inkwash painting (I also used to paint elements separately and then compile them in PS) and then mostly use overlay & multiply to achieve colors laid over the inks. These things had sooo many layers.

Hilda season 2 will come out this fall and I just realised I never posted this here!
