Stills, these are rendered in Cycles with a slightly different lighting setup.

Here's something I wish I was able to learn sooner; I think many starter anime-style artists begin by colouring shadows like on the left. Try change it up by starting with darker values and painting in direct lighting, and you'll find it becomes much simpler to render!

📝don't be afraid to start with darker value base colours - it doesn't look like the right colour in the beginning but its all relative to the surroundings~ it opens so much opportunity for rendering beautiful lighting!

@erikoartsu Yes, the layer mode is hard light! Usually I use different layers for shadow and lighting, but this technique uses just one. It looks like this on normal mode
