I haven't read the Sandman-comics, though they're always on display in the comic section when I go to the library. I have however read "Arkham: A Serious House on a Serious Earth" by Grant Morrison, which is also illustrated by Dave McKean. He are a few panels of it:

Let me ask you a question. What happened to the cop who appeared in The Sandman's vol. 7 Brief Lives afterwards? In other words, I think the punishment is too heavy for what he has done. Did he suffer to death? Or was he saved at some point?
