Remembering French paleontologist Marcellin Boule #OnThisDay. His study of Neanderthals in the early 1900s is often pointed to as the source for the creatures' brutish image https://t.co/tNohDfb21W #histsci #fossils

Personal work. A Compsognathus fossil, once thought to be discovered carrying an embryo, was later found to be housing the skeleton of a Bavarisaurus lizard that had been swallowed whole. #vectorthatfox #illustration #dinosaurs
Have some monstrous fun with some Fossil Ghoul artwork for The DynoGuard.
Aerodactyl - the Fossil Pokemon
I've been wanting to draw Aerodactyl in the style I draw my own original dragons for a while now, and I think it came out pretty neat! I've only recently come to appreciate how cool Aerodactyl is. I love prehistoric dragon dinosaurs.
Najash Rionegrina was a basal snake from the Late Cretaceous found in modern Patagonia, Argentina. Najash was unusual because it had well-developed hind legs that extend outside the rib cage & were structural part of something resembling a hip. #FossilFriday
My #Tylosaurus #mural is now on display @museumatPF in Overland Park #Kansas, in the new exhibit #SavageAncientSeas. To learn more, check out this short video I made on the science of creating this #paleoart ft @Mosasaurologist WATCH VIDEO > https://t.co/GN3il7f1sQ

For #FossilFriday, here's #paleoart of battling Iguanodon. We're used to the idea of igaunodonts having huge thumb spikes to fight with, but they're quite small and/or blunt in many species. Iguanodon has very large thumb spikes however, and may have used them antagonistically.

Scientific illustrations in the mid 1800s were just stunning. This is a skull of a cave hyena from Somerset, in 'British Pleistocene Mammalia' (1866). (Art by J. Greene). #FossilFriday
Have spent a lot of this week working on a new Jurassic marine life mural (will be released soon), so here's #paleoart for #FossilFriday on the same theme: Jurassic ichthyosaur Ophthalmosaurus, plus bonus pterosaurs.
