Before Zucco and his accomplice can kill Robin, Batman arrives and knocks Zucco down, before extracting a confession from Zucco's goon. Batman & Robin were a bit rougher in the 40s.

Tbh when drawing Darius I sometimes legit forget he's canonically in his 40s.

Also going forward with Darius art I just recently read and completely finished Berserk so don't be surprised if my new art of Darius channels some serious Guts (since they're so similiar)😅

Our prompt for artgame this week was a Mahousona, which I am always about! I redesigned mine pretty significantly. Sad to see the suspenders go, but I am pleased with the overall outfit, even if it is less 40s than i originally intended

Swaim's Panacea was a famous remedy in the 1830-40s. Ads showed the "actual" appearance of a woman named Nancy Linton *after* being treated with Panacea; to our eyes it might not seem like a very convincing ad... yet charlatan William Swaim became very rich selling this potion.

Jean Fautrier was a major practitioner of Tachisme, an abstract style popular in France in the 40s & 50s.

This 1939 still life is a pivotal work, halfway between his figurative interwar period paintings and his later ‘Otages’ series evoking the French Resistance & Nazi torture.

Of the original, '40s, but Chuck Jones did some of the funniest visuals too.

Ultimately, however, "The Magic Ring" (certainly its music score and VAs) and Dan Haskett's/Frank Molieri's model designs are what I'd prefer for Tom and Jerry, and I grew up on them.
