This is the outfit that made me seriously consider fixing the "bumps" issue. I had fitted it a few days ago. After the dress experiments, I decided to retopologize and refit it.

hard work really starting to pay off!! retopo needed around the mouth and eyes, could also stand to lose a few loops on the legs as well, but i'm learning as i go.

Second try with this guy's retopology. TopoGun essentially ate the last version (not saving it despite having a save location and not giving me an error message), causing me to be highly frustrated about it last Monday when I figured it out. Now praying to the retopology gods.
Wireframe, also explanation for how low the vertices are, its because I used the retopology method to get the same exact copy of the original hair but with lower vertices YEA

it looks great already with just those two maps. I can also keep the world light at zero so lights are very much customizable. next I need to do is:

i loaded the eye texture before i finished the retopology on the head and accidentally created a nightmare :'c
GLD has the densest skeleton in the GG series so far. Even the amount of bones on his pockets are ridiculous. He also has quite a lot of polys and it looks well retopolgyzed so far. Last character that saw so much care was Answer in Xrd
Still with the character course, a semi-realistic character with a really nice polycount budget, retopo went really quick here lmao
Retopology on this boy is finally done. I definitely need to upgrade my machine, desperately. But I am satisfied with the result, for the most part. Now off to bed and tomorrow, maybe, more work on slicing him apart!
Grateful for muscle memory coming back. Retopology is fun. Or something.
