TL;DR, A lot of the stuff that Sonic does actually feels more inspired and in tuned with Superheroes, or Anime, not goofy, silly, slapstick cartoons, the only thing Sonic got inspired from those cartoons was the design CHOICE, not the philosophy behind it.

We are now in the Blade/FoXMen/Raimi-Man period of vidya movies. Who knows when we'll get a game movie with MCU like quality.
