Yeeeeaah, it's a REALLY tricky look & feel to balance & keep consistent. Some form of middle ground has to be found depending on the artist. I try aiming for it with my project, but the animation simply CAN'T be nearly as smooth & designs end up REALLY angular.😅

So essentially, Yuji Uekawa did an Akira Toriyama and made his art more and more angular with each game.

Now here we are in the late 2010s - 2020s. Sonic is drawn even more angular than before. You can say Uekawas has tried to make Sonic more realistically proportioned.

Now we get to the late 2000s - early 2010s. Sonic is drawn completely differently. Sonic is drawn much more angular. Little angles have been added to places like the hands and socks to make Sonic appear more sharp. The shading has also been very toned down.

Looks vaguely...Sonic-ish.

The triangular circle patterns on its arms kinda remind me of Emerl's chest lights, while the build itself makes me think of Mega Man X or "Metal Sonic Mark 3" from Sonic Xtreme.

NORMALLY pointed/triangular shapes mean for us something dangerous, fast, unstable (unlike square) totally the opposite of circle shapes.But that doesn't mean that we can't combine 2 or more types of shapes into a single character.
