my cursed brain can't stop noticing asuka/ritsuko parallels. another one: in ep23, gendo sends asuka in place of rei to serve as a “decoy” in the fight against armisael. later in the same episode, gendo sends ritsuko in place of rei to serve as an interrogation subject for SEELE.
