@foxplushy Hello hello I'm Merlot! I'm a pink selkie and yes I'm named after the wine! Right now I use a talking sprite but my 2D debut is soon! https://t.co/QL0DiAyi3a
Some Selkies draw their roots to Irish/Scottish folklore while some say it came from the Norse & Celtic mythology. They are said to be half-human and half seal.
They can shed their seal skin and transform into humans. They also sing beautifully in the water.

Quick sketch of my character Marie as a Selkie.
Trying to shake that rust off and feel the energy to draw again!
Lamias and mermaids are just two of many types of shape shifters in myth. They could shape shift at will. Moura, mari, selkie, skinwalkers, jinn, gods, demons, werewolves, vampyre, yokai, etc. Many hundreds of tales and descriptions of these beings throughout mythology.

In Scotland archaeologists have unearthed flipper bones and a seal tooth pendant. Some think a seal teeth was buried for luck. And some argue that these discoveries might have something to do with selkies and their importance in Scottish folklore.

Creatures of #Mancer: Selkie (Celtic)
Therianthrope able to change between a seal and human form by donning or doffing its skin. While this change can happen only so often, Selkies take the opportunity to partake in human revelries before changing back, if they find their skin.
