Next in line of the Ars Goetia, Asmodeus. Arguably one of the most referenced of the Ars Goetia he is also one of the most to be feared.

#FolkloreThursday The snow maiden or child is an archetype in many cultures that experience snow. She is often a very sad figure, as she will long to be with humankind, but usually ends up either melted or accidentally killing her human companions with her cold nature.
Maddie and I continue our Dark Souls 3 lorethrough. I am afraid it may finally be time for swamp.

Happy #FolkloreThursday! I wanted to share one of the traditions from here in Italy: La Befana! 🌙 She arrives on January 5th, and leaves candy in the stockings of good children. In many city centers, large wicker Befana puppets are set on fire to symbolize the end of the year.
It's said that Robins got red breasts flying down to Hell taking sips of water to unfortunate souls there. Robins are also said to be symbols of dead loved ones. I never heard either of these tales growing up on Yorks. Are they regional? #FolkloreThursday #MargaretTarrant
Sacred pagan plant Misteltoe was considered so sacred that it had to be cut with a golden sickle.
Holly and other evergreens were also respected in the belief that, in winter, they provided refuge for woodland spirits until other trees regained their leaves.

The #Yew symbolises death & Saturn, but also the rebirth of light at the #wintersolstice. The Yew is Old Magic, dreams, otherworld journeys & connection to ancestors. It is perseverance leading to transformation & renewal.

Rozhanitsy are invisible female creatures who immediately after a child’s birth decide as to its destiny, similar to Roman Parcae or the Greek Moirai; i.e. Fates. Often they are associated with the winter deer-mother goddess who is depicted with antlers. #FolkloreThursday
